workout, weight loss

Have you tried a kickbox workout yet? If not, you are in for a nice weight loss workout. A bonus is the self defense you will learn in the process. Plus kickboxing is a nice chance of pace from the regular workout fare.

Kickboxing combines a variety of martial arts movements including T'ai Chi, Tae Kwan Do, Karate and Kung Fu. This cardio workout will improve body tone, strength, flexibility and balance. The movements include powerful leg and arm thrusts with slow, smooth glides. It gets you in shape while reducing blood pressure.

I find kickboxing to be a high-energy workout. I like the linear footwork, stances and techniques. We throw kicks from the back leg and maneuver long sweeping punches. I feel stronger and my confidence is better. I know I can ward off anything that comes my way.

I have found it very important to warm up with these routines. I generally twist my ankles, do head tilts and shoulder shrugs. Previous yoga or pilates experience can help with your stability. You might want to give the kickbox workout a try!
