workoutI was not able to workout much because of a herniated disc in my back.  I was afraid to do any kind of workout for fear that it would make my back worse or pull something.  After going to physical therapy, I now know that was not the best decision.  Strengthening muscles around my lower back where the bad disc is makes my back go out less.  Knowing the kinds of workout that work best for my condition was the key.  Now I can workout, strengthen my muscles and stretch them nice and slow.  My back feels stronger and my muscles hurt less when I keep up with this stretch workout that my physical therapist gave me.  This workout does mostly stretching exercises and some weight bearing kinds too.  It used to be when my disc would act up, I'd head to bed to rest it, thinking that rest and not moving is what was needed.  I was so wrong, because when I saw a physical therapist and they showed me what to do, it felt better with slow movements and stretching workouts.
