workout
This weekend marks the annual convention that my ethnicity holds. It's in a different city each year and every three years, it goes back to one of those cities. For instance, this year it's in Chicago, three years ago it was in Chicago. Just like whichever year it was in Detroit, and three years before that was also in Detroit. And so on, and so forth… I haven't been to the convention in years, mostly because I go with my family and no one wanted to go, or was able to go. However this year will be the first time in a long time some of my cousins are flying in from out of state for the convention.

Of the three cousins that are coming in for the convention, two are staying with us and that means it's time to actually clean the house. I'm not saying the house is a sty; it's just that some rooms need more cleaning than others. So far I have fully cleaned one room, have started on another, and have gotten one heck of a workout. And I'm not even halfway finished! I don't know how many times I went up and down stairs to the basement today, and I still am not finished. The good thing about living in a house with two stories and a basement is that if you are doing a mass cleaning like I am, you get one killer workout just running up and down stairs all day.

As if I didn't get enough exercise Saturday, walking around with my friend all day, this mass cleaning (mostly by myself) is going to be just as good a workout, if not better than my belly-dancing. Maybe all this double duty workout and cleaning will help me to lose some weight before the weekend. I can dream, can't I? So far in my home cleaning workout, I have carried a box containing the prefab multimedia center I bought for my room, up to my bedroom, assembled it and taken the two bookcases that formerly housed my CDs to the basement. Pretty good workout there. But wait, that's not all! In addition to that workout I cataloged all of my CDs, all 314 of them. That was a workout in and of itself. A workout in bending over, reaching down for a stack, straightening, carefully balancing them on my leg as I plugged the information into a spreadsheet. The workout continued as I had to stand, step over and squat to put the CDs on the appropriate shelf. But wait there's more!

Today's workout included the jewelry supply run, dumping as much as I could into two containers to take down to the basement, one at a time. Later when I came back into my room to finish cleaning, I realized I had left things on my bed that needed to go down to the basement. So the workout continued, grabbing those and whatever other jewelry supplies were floating around my room to take to the basement. By the time I was done there I was ready for a break. But no break was to be had, for I wasn't finished with my upstairs cleaning workout. I still had to finish cleaning my room.

Yet with all that I have done, the cleaning workout isn't finished. I still have to scrub my tub, mop floors, and the light stuff like dust the main floor of the house. Who needs a gym when you can get a workout from cleaning like me? hmm... that sounds like a good fitness craze, I wonder if I can market that...
