I was so happy to find organic cocoa powder online today that I ordered two cans of it, one for myself and one for my sister's family. I'm a big believer in the health benefits of dark chocolate and this NOW Organic Cocoa Powder will be a great way to indulge myself in something after my workouts that is both delicious and healthy. I'm a big believer in organic food, especially after watching some shows on public TV about how chocolate is harvested and processed. No one doubts anymore that chocolate is a health food, and I'll combine this cocoa powder with natural sweeteners like agave nectar or Stevia to make a healthy snack with few calories but loaded with nutrition.
My workouts are important and I don't want to come home and eat something loaded with empty calories that defeats the purpose of the workouts. Both my sister and I love chocolate and it is the one treat that she lets her kids eat frequently. After I compared the nutritional content in corn and green beans, I told my sister that cocoa powder has more value than either one of those vegetables. Her kids overheard me and ever since then, they've been reminding their mom about the importance of chocolate in their diets.
I power walk for my workouts or go hiking on weekends with the family. I have a cookbook that uses Stevia as the sweetener instead of sugar, and I'm going to hunt for recipes that use cocoa powder so we can eat some healthy chocolate snacks. I may even tinker with the recipes to make them more effective for weight loss, too, by adding whole wheat or oatmeal instead of using as much white flour. I did that with a banana bread recipe and it was a big hit with the family.
I found the organic cocoa powder online at Zuppa's Store located at www.healthytudes.com, a site that has a lot of vitamins supplements and other good things related to all around health. I know they don't stock organic cocoa in the grocery stores I go to, so it made sense to order it online. Sometimes I walk to the grocery store for a workout because when I walk home, I'm carrying more weight, so I treat the food I buy as weights which adds to the intensity of my workouts. Anything I can do to burn calories and work my muscles is a good thing and with the hot summer coming around the corner, these winter workouts are enjoyable and essential to good health, as will the snacks made from organic cocoa powder.
